Candace

Dancing since the age of five, Candace knew she found her passion in her very first bellydance class.  Since then, she's been performing and teaching all over Vancouver Island, The Gulf Islands and Vancouver, and furthering her own training with world-renowned dancers and instructors; Suhaila Salimpour, Carolena Nericcio, Rachel Brice, Samantha Hasthorpe, Mardi Love, Heather Stants and Ultra Gypsy, to name a few.

When Candace isn't teaching, training or performing, she spends all of her free time with her amazing  new husband Felipe, beautiful sister and best friend Rayna, her sweet, trouble making dog Cypress, her cat Tillee and the most amazing, fantastic friends a girl could ask for. Her newest adventure? Heating up her body and mind at Bikram Yoga...simply the best!!

Tona

Tired of watching her dance alone to ABBA in their kitchen, Tona’s husband Dave signed her up for bellydance classes as a Christmas present in 2005. She began classes with Candace in January 2006 and found she much preferred the company of her fellow dancers to that of her cutlery and mixing bowls.
Along with her regular classes with Candace, Tona has also enjoyed taking workshops from such delightful dancers as Suhaila Salimpour, Ariellah, Faith, Samantha Hasthorpe and Ultra Gypsy.
Tona is very honoured to be a part of Harmony Bellydance, and now practices her shimmies in the kitchen in her spare time.

Laura

First introduced to belly dance through Angelina's joyful belly play shops several years ago, Laura finally took the plunge towards formal instruction in January 2006.  She is inspired by the teachings of Candace, Samantha Hasthorpe and Ultra Gypsy.  Laura is continually amazed at the sheer talent of teachers she has the privilege of learning from on the Island and beyond such as Ariellah, Faith Hunt, and Nath Keo.

Honoured to be in the company of such a dynamic group of women, she looks forward to seeing where this journey will lead.  When not dancing and laughing with her sister dancers, Laura can be found behind her serger or camera lens, with her toes in the sand, or hanging with her amazing boys.

Rayna

After many years learning different dance styles, Rayna fell in love with bellydancing and it's been her style of choice ever since. She and her sister Candace started bellydancing together in 1999, and while Rayna continued to study with Candace informally over the years, she recently returned to taking classes and performing. She's found the support, fun and friendship she was missing with the Harmony Bellydance troupe. She's also been taught by Sidona and Nila and has taken workshops with the talented Samantha Hasthorpe and Mardi Love.

Rayna's other passions include make-up artistry, bikram yoga, the outdoors, anything creative and most importantly, her family and friends.

Shiya

Shiya first tried bellydancing in 2003 when she fell in love with the dance form.  In the fall of 2006, she found the perfect community in Harmony Bellydance to complement the dance.  She has had the honour of taking workshops with Faith Hunt and Samantha Hasthorpe and looks forward to training with the many dancers who provide workshops on the Island and beyond.

Shiya is a naval engineer who attends Parkdale E. Free Church in Victoria.  She enjoys books, movies, sewing, hiking, kayaking, and many varieties of dance.  She is looking forward to the adventures that this new experience as a troupe member will bring!
